The Como Brothers

The Como Brothers are Matt and Andrew Como, Long Island musicians, songwriters and producers whose catalog stretches from early family performances and independent recordings to television placements, extensive live work and collaborations with established session musicians.

Music was part of the brothers’ lives from childhood. Both studied piano, while Andrew later took up saxophone and guitar and Matt developed as a vocalist, guitarist and bassist. They also performed with family members in the Beatles tribute group PJ Day Trippers before establishing their own original work.

An early recording, Get Me Back to You, appeared under the name Matt & Andrew Como in 2010. By 2012, The Como Brothers had released The Speed of Sound, their first professionally recorded EP, featuring songs including “Underneath It All,” “I Don’t Like You,” “You Are My World” and “Can I Be Matched with You.” That period also included appearances connected with Hard Rock Rising, the Montauk Music Festival, Warped Tour and Jones Beach.

Their catalog expanded rapidly through Still Waters and the full-length Baby Steps in 2013, followed by releases including Imagination, Live at 89 North!, Jam Theory and a long series of singles. Over the years, Matt and Andrew have worked with musicians and producers including Steve Jordan, Aaron Sterling, Andy Burton, Sam Woolf, Graham Marsh, Michael Brauer, Mike Watts and Tom Flynn.

The brothers gradually took greater control of their own recording and production. Andrew began developing home-recording skills around 2017, and that capability became particularly important during the pandemic, when the band’s normal schedule of roughly 100 to 150 performances a year was interrupted. They continued writing and releasing music from home, at times issuing new singles only weeks apart.

Their songs have also reached audiences through television. The Como Brothers have reported placements on programs including Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The Real World and The Young and the Restless. In 2024, “I See Something” was used for Brook Lynn and Chase’s first dance as newlyweds on General Hospital, giving a song originally released in 2019 another life five years later.

Alongside their original catalog, Matt and Andrew have maintained a longstanding connection to the music of The Beatles. Beginning in late 2025, they began regularly sharing Beatles performances and eventually recorded complete live performances of A Hard Day’s Night, Beatles for Sale and Help!. Their version of “I Feel Fine” later won American Songwriter’s Road Ready Covered Promotion.

In 2026, The Como Brothers were selected as finalists in American Songwriter’s Road Ready Talent Contest, with a Nashville finale scheduled at 3rd & Lindsley. Their album Whisper In The Wind was scheduled for September 28, 2026, continuing a recording history that by then extended for more than fifteen years.

For Indie Music Bus, that history is also personal. The Como Brothers were named an Indie Music Bus Artist of the Month in August 2013, when Andrew appeared on the Butterflies Radio IndieViews program to discuss the band and the forthcoming Baby Steps. More than a decade later, their continuing work provides a rare opportunity to follow an independent band not simply from one release to the next, but across a substantial part of its creative life.
