Bloom The Record Crate Glebe Sydney Australia 12th May 2018

Bloom – melodic SCREAMO’ my ears are still ringing

Gig date: 12th May 2018

Venue: The Record Crate, Glebe

Country of origin: Sydney, Australia

Members: Jono, Jarod, Andrew, Oliver and Jack

Support or headline: Support for Flicker (Western Sydney)

Good crowd/bad crowd: WOW did everyone love Bloom or what???? I mean seriously every time Jono screamed the crowd screamed too. You knew at this moment in time you were in for an amazing night!

Number of times seen band: 2

Crowd participation: The fact that every one in the crowd was trying to scream notes as long as Jono in my books would be quite a lot of participation, but there was also a lot of dancing which was cool to see.

Genre: Melodic Hardcore

Rating: 8/10 guitars

My review:

  • As much as hardcore music is NOT my thing, I am slowly getting more and more into Bloom each time I see them.
  • Considering how small the record crate stage is (downstairs) they used the stage really well
  • Great interaction with the crowd.

Summary: Bloom is a 5-piece band from Sydney, Australia. They combine heavy vocals with melodic elements to create a powerful sound. (Which they have successfully done) They are looking to make a name for themselves in the Melodic Hardcore scene, and I think they’re succeeding!   You know how the first few spoonfuls of cereal are always the best because they are sufficiently crunchy and nothing has gone soggy yet? Well their song Cure Me’ is as good as those first few bites of cereal. It’s all crunch and it’s packed with flavour. My view and opinion on ‘Cure Me’! Keep up the excellent work!
